October 2016

At four o’clock on the 2nd, we headed to George from Kempton Park. Close to Uniondale, the gearbox started giving us trouble and we had to drive in 4th gear to George. God was so good, he protected us and guided Jannie with the right tools to get to George.

Our children and grandchildren were so surprised to see us and we had a lovely get together. Jannie had to hire a trailer to transport the Colt to Rawsonville. Jannie’s younger brother, Herman helped to tow the trailer with his Everest. Jannie left the Colt in Rawsonville and lucky for us, the Ford was still in Rawsonville. Jannie decided to drive back to George with the Ford Bakkie.

After Jannie drove back to George, he picked me up.  We fetched the generator on his older brother’s farm with the help of Jacques and Christian.  We then headed back to Rawsonville on the 4th of October.

We were fortunate to celebrate Christian and Gabriella’s birthdays on the 4th and 6th. It was special to us because our plan was only to go back to South Africa in December.

On the 6th, Jannie asked Rawsonville electric to build him a 3 phase board.  This would help with the electricity supply from the generator to the 3 pumps. Jannie ordered all the cables that he needed for the completion of every bore hole. Andre Fouche was such great help and he collected 6 pumps that we ordered in Johannesburg. This made our life easier so that we can get back to Nkhoma.

On the 17th, we were still in Rawsonville. Jannie had to service the Ford bakkie that was going to take the generator back to Malawi.

At 4am on the 21st of October we started driving back to Malawi. We arrived in Kempton Park later that afternoon. The drive to Kempton Park with the generator went without any problems.

On the 22nd, we decided to take a day off and just rest before we continued with the drive back to Malawi. On the 23rd, we departed from Kempton to Malawi via Botswana and Zambia. We were on the road from the 24th to the 26th. At the border, we didn’t have to open the bakkie or the trailer. Nobody asked us questions about our load and that was just another sign that God was with us all the way. We also did not have any problems with the bakkie and that just shows you that prayer works. On the 26th, 9:30pm we arrived at Nkhoma, tired, but thankful.

We drove back to Chandame on the 27th, but we only stayed for 4 days.  We had to drive back to Nkhoma on the 31st and stay there for 10 days as Jannie had to help Hennie.  They installed the generator, water pumps, pipes and the electricity supply. They worked from early in the morning till about 4pm. It was hot and dry, because of the lack of rainfall.

God Bless!
