On Friday afternoon, members of the Chandame congregation and youth choir departed for Nkondedzi in a lorry. The afternoon at Nkondedzi started with the showing of DVD’s and videos, including the Jesus film.
The group sang, danced and praised God right through the night. Many people were present during the course of the evening. On Friday night, 20 people gave their hearts to the Lord.
The weekend ended on Sunday with a few people being given the opportunity to preach. All who preached messages were the same and this message was how it is your choice if you want to believe in God, that all of us are moving into the last days and that there is no more time to choose a different path.
At the end of the weekend, the church welcomed 52new members. The Synod Church is considering appointing an Evangelist to stay with the Nkondedzi congregation for 3 years and after this, a full time minister.
The clinic at Chandame has been plastered inside and outside as well as the windows and doors have been finished. Vasco and his 2 helpers are doing a good job and their work is very neat.
Jannie got a message a few nights ago to read the book of Hagia. The next morning, he said that we have to start repairing the church and tidying up the building. We have started doing this and the church will be repaired.
Currently, Jannie is helping Ben Bekker to drill for water in Tete and we are getting an extra income to use spread the word of God.
We are continuing with the clinic here in Chandame until the bigger clinic has been completed. We recently received 2 children with severe burns that they got from hot water. One childs hand and the others forearm were burnt.
We get a lot of burn cases because the locals make fire at ground level to cook food. They eat around the fire and there is always a pot with boiling water and a fire burning. We also received a case where a child sat halfway into a fire. He was very brave and did not cry when we helped him. We need aot of prayer regarding this matter.
Every morning between 8 and 9 am, Susan helps local preschool children with vision therapy as well as hand-eye coordination activities. The children really enjoy this and receive the required stimulation that they will not receive before they go to school.
Aida, Pastor Isaias’ wife runs the after school- and morning care program. She helps the older children with their homework. This is really important as the level of education in Mozambique and Chandame is not of a high level. She does 2 shifts because there are 2 shifts at school. Some students go to school in the morning and other in the afternoon because there is not enough space for all the students to go to school at the same time.
The first summer rains have arrived and it rained for 2 days. This is really good news for the local farmers and their crops. The local farmers are really dependant on the rain for a good harvest. The better the rain – the better the harvest.
We are really positive about the work here on Chandame. We also work outside of Chandame and Jannie helps other missionaries. He also supports the local farming community by helping them taking their products to the local market
We serve a God that lives!!!
