July 2020

Every second week, we buy new chicks. We experience reasonable sales figures. We received a contract to supply 1 ton of cucumbers and 1 ton of carrots per week in Tete. We prepared the soil on the farm, and on a weekly basis we plant 0.25ha of cucumber and carrots. We also planted butternut and squash (boerpampoen). We had a lot of trouble with our sheep that died, but with the help of a vet in Mozambiek and a vet in Ireland, dr. Martie Viljoen, we are treating them now, and are sure that we will conquer this situation In July we had 35mm of rain on the farm. We are very thankful for the rain as it is much needed for die coffee trees and the new vegetable plantings. Pastor Antonio still does door to door evangelism. The encouragement scripture he uses is Ephesians 6: 14 – 15 – The Armour of God “Stand firm, therefore, having fastened the belt of truth around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,  and being firm-footed in the gospel of peace.” All we do is to honour our Heavenly Father. Isaiah 41:15 – “See, I’m making you into a new, sharp, and multi-tooth threshing sledge. You’ll thresh and crush the mountains, and make the hills like chaff.” GOD CAN

June 2020

On four occasions we bought chicks in June. They do eat a lot and grow fast. Every six weeks, we can buy a new batch. Jannie did some repair work on pastor Antonios motorcycle. We sold 25 bags of yellow mealies, and with the money we received, we were able to pay the annual taxes on the farm. Mwala Madzi’s vision is to be self sustainable and give a tenth of the income on the farm towards Kingdom work. We are strongly progressing in that way and are very excited about that. In middle June we started working on a new road to the farm. Jannie was on the tractor with the scraper and Dennis was on the TLB. The distance to the farm will be 7 km shorter with the new road. We are still not allowed to have church gatherings and services, and pastor Antonio does house to house ministry. The scripture he uses for encouragement, is Mathew 7:7 – “Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you.  At the clinic I only treat injuries and malaria cases.

May 2020

We started with deforestation of a piece of land at Mwala Madzi to make space for new plantings. 5 May We started off with 200 broiler chicks and we plan to buy 200 every second week. On six weeks we can start selling live stock. 18 May We hired a threshing and harvesting machine from a group of the local people. Jannie had to do a lot of work and had to almost rebuild the machine before we could use is. The mealies has been harvested and stripped and placed in 50kg bags. There were 215 bags off the 2ha. We decided to mix our own chicken feed. Riaan en Soretha Terblance visited us, and it is always such a blessing to receive fellow believers. 19 May Be traveled to Vila Ulongwe (about 70km from us) to buy another 200 chicks. We are so thankful that we did not need to go accross the border to buy the chicks. 20 – 23 May We traveled to Tete for a Praise and Worship event with American fellow believers. It was awesome! 27 May The water pump and engine has been repaired and Jannie took it to the farm. Now the coffee trees can get enough water. Exodus 33 verse 21 And the LORD said, However, stand here on this rock beside me

April 2020

April 2020 Mozambique is under lockdown as well and all the border posts are closed. Everybody must wear their facial masks and keep their safe distance. The church gatherings is held with not more than 10 people at a time, and they must sit outside the church building. One of our pastors held a communion service for 160 of his church members. He was arrested and had to pay a fine of 43 000 MT (R11 000). Jannie used this time to build shelves in the container, and now all his tools are organised and he can see where everything is. At the clinic we only see malaria patients and patients with wounds.

September and October 2019

From 1 to 11 September I had the opportunity to make a brief visit to South Africa. I attended my granddaughter, Gabriella’s, ballet concert and I also attended a grandparents event at her school. The theme of this event was Fruits of the Spirit. I thought deeply about the Fruit of the Spirit. It is surely a command and not an option that is given to the children of the Lord in Galatians 5: 13 – 26. On 21 September we departed for Meponda for a Missionaary conference that was held from 23 to 27 September. After a wonderful time of fellowship and Bible study, we feld uplifted and encouraged for the rest of the year that still lied ahead of us. The Lord ordered Jannie to pray in the capitals of the 10 privinces of Mozambique and specifically on the town square where the stadue of Samoar Machel is. Each morning at 10:00 on the square in each of the capitals we prayed that the Lord will bind the stronghold of Satan over Mozambique and we claimed Mozambique back. Since the Lord assigned this task, Jannie received Word: 1 John 5: 4 – 5 – For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.  Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?  Matthew 18: 18 – 19 – Truly, I say to you, whatever you […]
