APRIL – JULY 2015

After a very long time, the mobile clinic (ACRIS) finally arrived on the 1st April with Helen Meyer, under whose guidance they had quite a fruitful day. A lot of people were able to receive very necessary medical attention, and we are very grateful to Helen and her team. Marie Smit from Villa Ullongwe also came in April to teach the women of Chandame more about knitting. Our women learned a lot, and always enjoy Marie’s lessons. Several of them have started knitting on their own, and we are very excited to see their new skills develop. A highlight in Chandame is the market we have every Thursday. Vendors from all over Mozambique come to sell their goods, and we have seen the market grow quite a lot. Here we are able to buy our food and some daily supplies, but medicines we still have to buy in Malawi. We crossed the border for more medicines, and had a talk with dr Renier about the clinic we are building in Chandame. He gave us positive input which helped a lot. My day-to-day clinic is still running and I ask for your constant prayers in this. We had a 13 year old girl who came to us with swollen glands, and referred her to Nkhoma hospital. They diagnosed her with cancer, and are busy treating her in Villa Ullongwe at this stage. I ask that you also pray for her. Our sermon of 19 April reminded me (John 17:3 and Psalm […]

OUR NEWS: JANUARY – MARCH 2015

We again had spent a special holiday with children, grandchildren, family and friends.  We always felt blessed and we left for Mozambique with great courage and joy to come and work for the Kingdom of God!  We were also blessed with another grandchild on 21 January 2015, when Alexander Daniel De Kock was born in South Korea. We now have 5 lovely grandchildren! Although we couldn’t be with our children when Alexander was born, we know that God was there and thank Him that all went well. On the 26th of January 2015, we attended the Mission Convention in Paarl, where we learned from the other missionaries. We praised and worshipped and we went home with the knowledge that you must go back to the basics – focus on God, He only wants the best for you! We arrived at Chandame on the 6th of February 2015, and were again welcomed with lots of flowers and lots of happy people!  Our garden looked wonderful – everthing was  green and the flowers were beautiful. You could also see that it was a rainy season during November, December, January up until end of April. We brought back some Sandveld potato seeds that we planted here on Chandame to multiply and use for  future planting (a special thank you to Henk van Zyl of Leipoldtville in South Africa for the gift). This will be our first attempt to produce seeds and the start of our dream to do all types of seeds which are […]

JUNE – OCTOBER 2014

During June to September, we had a constant flow of visitors – Calla and Hetta Botha, Will and Elize Viljoen, Koos and Petro Ritter, Herman and Berdine Smit, Wilhelm Els, Cliff van Dyk and Beulah Greyvenstein all came to visit us. We enjoyed every one of our guests’ input in our daily routine here at Chandame. Early mornings started with devotion en praising the Lord before starting our day. We went to the farm we received from the government (900 hectares), where we would like to plant maize, soya, potatoes and other vegetables, but the land needs to be deforested before we can start any farming there. We noticed however that the locals here did not replant any trees to replace the trees they felled, and decided to plant 5 trees for every tree that we fell. If we do not do his, Mozambique may one day be without any trees. This shows again that sustainability is a major issue in Africa that needs to be addressed, and we feel privileged to be here to tackle this issue with the locals. We are also busy building the solar toilets at the clinic, and the ceiling and plumbing are next in line. All the men also helped Jannie with building our bedroom and modifying the kitchen, which will enable us to finally move out of the caravan. While the visitors were here, Elize and Petro started knitting classes with the women. They enjoyed it very much and I decided to go […]

NEEDS

We would once again like to thank every one who contributes to the cause of our missionary work in Chandame. We believe that we are in the End Times that the Bible tells us of in Revelations, and that the Gospel must be spread to every corner of the earth. We are however very dependant on the people supporting us, as well as our Heavenly Father, to make this a success. We believe that God uses us and also other people to spread His Gospel. We are in the field every day, and would like to communicate to you, our support system, the needs that we have picked up in our communities. We pray that you will consider this in your prayers: We are always in need of medical supplies or equipment for the mobile clinic. Bandages, plaster, medicines, anything can help Clothing for the people can always help, as well as warm blankets Any equipment that can help us in building churches or make roads to prayer houses and to the farm can help Vaaljan, our bakkie, has also become quite old and is past the 500,000km mark. Please pray for us here as we are quite dependant on the bakkie for transport of both ourselves and church members Tools and any loose equipment can help, as we are always trying to teach the people as much as we can, and there are usually something that needs to be fixed – either Pastor’s motorcycle, or the pipeline to the […]

13 – 15 September 2012 – Evangelism weekend in Nkondedzi

On Friday afternoon, members of the Chandame congregation and youth choir departed for Nkondedzi in a lorry.  The afternoon at Nkondedzi started with the showing of DVD’s and videos, including the Jesus film. The group sang, danced and praised God right through the night.  Many people were present during the course of the evening.  On Friday night, 20 people gave their hearts to the Lord. The weekend ended on Sunday with a few people being given the opportunity to preach.  All who preached messages were the same and this message was how it is your choice if you want to believe in God, that all of us are moving into the last days and that there is no more time to choose a different path. At the end of the weekend, the church welcomed 52new members.  The Synod Church is considering appointing an Evangelist to stay with the Nkondedzi congregation for 3 years and after this, a full time minister. The clinic at Chandame has been plastered inside and outside as well as the windows and doors have been finished.  Vasco and his 2 helpers are doing a good job and their work is very neat. Jannie got a message a few nights ago to read the book of Hagia.  The next morning, he said that we have to start repairing the church and tidying up the building.  We have started doing this and the church will be repaired. Currently, Jannie is helping Ben Bekker to drill for water in […]

11 AUGUST 2013 – 11 SEPTEMBER 2013

WE STAYED IN TETE IN AUGUST, CAMPING AT A WATER FACTORY WHERE JANNIE WAS WORKING ON THE COMPRESSOR OF A DRILLING MACHINE (CALLED “THE ROCK GIANT”) AND DRILLED FOR WATER IN ORDER TO GET EXTRA INCOME FOR THE CLINIC. WE ARE QUITE USED TO CAMPING AND LIVING OUT OF A TENT BY NOW, ALTHOUGH IT WAS A BIG ADJUSTMENT FOR US IN THE BEGINNING! FROM 15 – 18 AUGUST THERE WAS A VERY BIG WOMENS MEETING AT BENGA. THE THEME OF THE MEETING WAS “BE IN JESUS CHRIST IN THE LAST DAYS”. A FULL 1,500 WOMEN ATTENDED THE MEETING! WE STARTED THE WOMENS MEETING ON THE THURSDAY EVENING WITH THE SCRIPTURE FROM JOHN 15:1-10, WHERE JESUS TELLS US THAT HE IS THE TRUE GRAPEVINE. WE ARE THE BRANCHES FROM THAT GRAPEVINE, AND MUST REMAIN IN HIM TO BEAR FRUIT. OUR PASTOR FROM CHANDAME WAS THE SPEAKER FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND. ON FRIDAY (16TH AUGUST) WE READ FROM THE FOLLOWING SCRIPTURES: MATTHEW 22:3-14 – WE WILL SEE SIGNS IN THE LAST DAYS TO KNOW IT IS THERE. WE WERE REMINDED TO ALLOW JESUS CHRIST TO BE THE LEADER OF OUR LIVES! JOHN 14:1-6 – JESUS PROMISES US THAT HE IS GOING TO PREPARE A PLACE WITH HIM FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN HIM. JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, AND WE MUST BE CAREFUL FOR FALSE PROPHETS! THE WOMEN WERE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE MEETING, AND IT WAS GREAT TO BE ABLE TO BE […]

APRIL 2013

EVERY MORNING WE STARTED THE DAY WITH DEVOTIONS. WE WERE REMINDED TO BE GOOD TO OTHER PEOPLE EVERYDAY – TO PUT GOD IN CONTROL AND TO FIRST PRAY AND THEN PLAN! (2 CORINTHIANS 1- V 4-5).  WILHELM ELS AND HIS FRIEND GEORGE ARRIVED AT CHANDAME. WILHELM WAS TEACHING “FARMING GOD’S WAY” AND GEORGE CAME FOR AN INTERVIEW FOR A JOB IN TETE. WE DROVE GOERGE THERE AND JANNIE FETCHED SUPPLIES FOR DRILLING (WATER). GEORGE HELPED JANNE TO FINISH THE BOREHOLE AT NGADZI.  A MIRACLE HAPPENED, WHICH WE WOULD LIKE TO SHARE. A BOY NAMED DIAGO, 11 YEARS OLD, CAME FOR MEDICINE ON A WEDNESDAY WITH STOMACH PROBLEMS. I GAVE HIM SOME TABLETS TO TREAT WORM INFECTIONS AS WELL AS PANADOS. THE NEXT DAY THE MOTHER CAME BACK WITH HIM STILL SICK. THIS TIME WE PUT HIM ON MALARIA MEDICATION, BUT AGAIN, JUST THE NEXT DAY, THE MOTHER CAME BACK. THE BOY NOW HAD BLOOD IN HIS URINE!! WE TOLD HER TO HAVE HIM FINISH HIS MALARIA MEDICATION AND STARTED PRAYING FOR THE BOY. WE ALSO GAVE HIS NAME TO FRIENDS IN SOUTH AFRICA WHO HELPED PRAYING. THURSDAY NIGHT I (SUSAN) STARTED TO READ MATHEW 8 ABOUT ALL THE MIRACLES JESUS HAD DONE. THE NEXT MORNING AT HALF PAST 8 I SENT THE PASTOR TO CHECK ON THE BOY – HE WAS BETTER WITHIN 5 DAYS! TRULY A MIRACLE – PRAISE THE LORD! THERE IS GREAT POWER IN PRAYER!!!  ON THE 6TH OF APRIL WE WENT THROUGH THE BORDER TO HAVE […]

MARCH 2013

ON 1st OF MARCH WE HAD A WOMENS MEETING ON CHANDAME. 14 WOMEN ATTENDED THE MEETING AND THE THEME WAS – WHO IS GOD? WE READ JOHN 14:7-15. JESUS CHRIST IS ALWAYS WITH YOU!  ON SUNDAY 3rd OF MARCH WE VISITED A PRAYERHOUSE AT IMPHALE AND WERE REMINDED TO THINK OF THE THINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND NOT THINGS OF THE WORLD, AND TO GO HOME WITH NEW POWER. AFTER CHURCH WE ALL ATE TOGETHER – MAIZE WITH CHICKEN AND RELISH.  MONDAY THE 4th OF MARCH WE WENT OVER THE BORDER TO MALAWI. SUSAN WAS GOING TO HAVE A HERNIA OPERATION THE NEXT DAY. AT HALF PAST SEVEN SHE WAS BOOKED INTO HOSPITAL AT NKHOMA MISSION HOSPITAL. THE OPERATION STARTED AND IT WAS DONE WITHOUT ANASTETHICS. THE DOCTOR DID IT WITH ONLY LOCAL ANASTETHICS! THE OPERATION LASTED FOR 2 1/2 HOURS AND ALL WENT WELL. A BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL THE PRAYERS, IT DEFINITELY HELPED!  WE THEN STAYED FOR ONE WEEK AT NKHOMA AND THEN WENT HOME TO CHANDAME. WHILE WE WERE IN NKHOMA, JANNIE HELPED HENNIE SMIT TO PUT IN A NEW ENGINE FOR HIS MOTORCYCLE AND HE ALSO WORKED ON THE FIELD AMBULANCE WHICH WE BROUGHT FOR THEM FROM POTCHEFSTROOM.  ON THE 10TH OF MARCH PASTOR ISAIS PREACHED AT CHANDAME. DURING THE WEEK JANNIE WORKED ON THE TRUCK. HE ASSEMBLED THE NEW ENGINE AND ALSO PUT THE BUILDING TEAM BACK ONTO THE CLINIC. THEY STARTED TO FINISH ALL THE STONEWORK NEAR THE ROOF. JANNIE ALSO HELPED […]

NOVEMBER 2012 – NOW

WE DECIDED THAT SUSAN WOULD LEAVE ON THE 21ST TO BE ON TIME FOR THE DEPARTURE OF OUR DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW, WHO WERE LEAVING WITH THE LIBERTAS-CHOIR TO GERMANY. OUMA HAD TO LOOK AFTER THE 2 YEAR OLD GRANDSON, WHICH SHE THOROUHLY ENJOYED! I (JANNIE) STAYED AND FINISHED THE ROOF OF THE CLINIC (REALIZING I NEEDED 16 TRUSSES NOT 12!). I WAS ABLE TO DEPART FOR SA ON THE AFTERNOON OF 1 DECEMBER. IN THAT LAST WEEK, THE RAIN SEASON STARTED AND THE WORK THAT I THOUGHT WOULD NOT BE FINISHED IN 5 DAYS, THE LORD HELPED ME FINISH IN 3.5 DAYS! I WAS EXCITED ABOUT THE NEW ROUTE THROUGH BOTSWANA. I LEFT FROM TETE IN MOZAMBIQUE THE SUNDAY MORNING AT 04H00.THE ROUTE WOULD BE TETE, CATANDICA, BANDULA , MUTARE , MASVINGO, BULUWAYO, PLUMTREE INTO BOTSWANA, FRANCISTOWN, PALAPAYE AND THEN STOP FOR COFFEE WITH A FRIEND THE EVENING 11H30. PASSING GABERONE AND THROUGH LOBATSIE I REACHED RHAMATHLABANA, THE SOUTHERN BORDERPOST OF BOTSWANA AT 06H00 THE FOLLOWING MORNING. NEARING SA, I TRAVELLED QUICKLY. I HAD A WIMPY BREAKFAST AT VRYBURG AND TRAVELLED THROUGH WARRENTON, KIMBERLEY, AND THREE SISTERS. I REACHED HOME THE MONDAY EVENING AT 09H30. THE LORD PROTECTED AND KEPT ME 3,300KM AND VAALJAN MY FORD RANGER WITH 400,000KM ON THE CLOCK READY TO DO MORE. THIS WAS DEFENITELY THE ROUTE FOR THE FUTURE. COMPARED TO THE ROUTE THROUGH BEITEBRUG, IT WAS 210KM FUTHER, BUT SO MUCH FASTER AND THE BORDERPOSTS A PLEASURE. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE HAD […]
